Kumbh Fair Nasik..........................
Nashik is popularly called the Benaras of South India as the holy city of Maharashtra is dotted by a large number of temples. Nasik is one of the four venues of the Kumbh Mela, the largest Hindu spiritual gathering in India. Legend says that during the ongoing struggle between Gods and Demons for the ownership of the jar filled with nectar, it fell in Nasik. Sine then Nasik became one of the four sites of the Kumbh Mela. The Sinhasta Kumbh Mela is held once in 12 years in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, the holy town about 38kms away from Nasik.
During Kumbh Mela a large number of devotees which include sadhus take holy dip into the river Godavari to remit sins and to attend salvation. The most important part of the festival is one has to take ritual bath at a particular time and place.
